“Dear Heavenly Father,
Everyday I walk through the valley of death. I see results and the destruction of sin and hate. As a soldier, I am called to defend my country. I know that this will result in pain and the loss for all who are involved. No one escapes this brutal reality of war.
It is you God whom I will serve first and foremost. I love my country, but not more than you.
As I bow my head in honor of you, I give thanks for where I am today. You have placed me here in this place and in this time for a reason. There is a need that I was created to fill. Show me where I can serve you today. Help me to do it with a heart of joy.
Help me to see my brothers here with your eyes. Help me to love them more than I love myself. If we were all to take this oath, and walk in the example of Christ Himself, the world would find peace much more quickly. I pray that this oath will be spoken by every soldier in the army of this war that is a soldier of God.
A house dived against itself cannot stand. Although my brothers and I do not see eye to eye on all things in life—we cannot be strong if we do not chose to let these differences go. We chose today to give up anger, strife, jealousy, posturing for glory, ego, and pride. Instead we chose the valiant armor of honor, justice, peace, humility and serving God by serving each other with a good attitude and a lion’s heart. We come together for the common goal of coming out of this alive and healthy–with minds that become stronger from our current circumstances, not weaker from it.
Nothing can be better or safer than walking in the will of God—His way. Lord, you offer your protection to those who chose to seve you first. You said in your word that you would never give us anything we cannot handle. We trust in you, Lord. We believe your word.
In the name of Jesus, I cover myself and my fellow soldiers with the blood of Christ. Lord, let there be no bloodshed in our house today. Keep our families safe while we are trying to keep our country safe. Cover our wives and children back home with the love of the Heavenly Father; let them feel your presence so strong in our home, that no one will be emotionally harmed from my physical absence. I trust my family with you, Lord.
Protect our hearts from the things we soliders will see today; help us to have the mind of Christ and to do all things with honor, integrity, justice and patience. Give us the power of your Holy Spirit’s infinite wisdom. Allow that wisdom to rise above each one of our seperate, selfish egos so that we all can chose the most safe way to protect each other.
We stand here today declaring that your will be done, and that we will come home to shout the Victory of what was done in your name. We bless the men and soldiers that we are at war against, as that is your instruction in the Word of God. Our true enemy is satan and his evil ways. We accept the peace of God that passes all understanding. Please stamp the name of Jesus Christ in our hearts, and let the blood of Christ pump through our veins to strengthen us in all we do. Bless us in this battle. Amen.”
