Prayer for reconciliation after a divorce

“Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for our family.  We are not a perfect family, and have many issues, but we know that family is a gift.

We come to you with broken hearts.  This family is nursing the wounds of the enemy that comes to kill, steal and destroy from us.

As a family, we are praying together.  We need the Lord to help guide us through the rubble of our lives and piece together the torn and broken precious parts.

Many mistakes have been made by both parties in this marriage. The leaders of this home were divided. We know that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

In our private prayer time, please speak to the hearts of each member of this family.  Show us the condition of our hearts, help us to confess our individual sins.  Help us to own up to our mistakes and take responsibilities for the hurts and injustices we have done, and to forgive those who have hurt us as we would like others to forgive us when we ask.

Lord, take down the barriers and walls that we have built between us.  Help us to build our house on a solid foundation, you.  As you deal with each of our broken hearts, show us how much you love us, and give us the strength to receive that love and not reject it.

We are asking you to come into our home, and make yourself at home there.  We invite you, Lord to be the head of it.  We trust that you have the well-being and best interest of all of our members at the top of your list.  We know that there is no safer place to be than in a home that is covered in your protection.

As we are receiving and being healed by your love, let the overflow of that love trickle down into every area of our family. Help us to shelter each other instead of tear each other down with words that will destroy the very heart of who we are.

Help us to choose carefully the things we say, so we will not destroy what you have built up.

This home is a new home, and reconstruction will take time and not be an easy process, but we are committed to building a house and a family that will last through the storms of life.

Thank you for rebuilding this marriage, and the relationships of every member in the ___________________ household.  We ask that you cover it in the blood of Jesus.  And, just like the angel of death had to Passover the Israelites’ homes covered with the blood of the perfect lamb in Egypt, we know that the blood of Jesus has the power to protect this home from any destruction that the devil had planned for it.

In Jesus’ precious name, Thank you for bringing the ___________________ family to a place where we can start our healing, Amen.”
