Who is the Messiah? Old Testament Prophecies And Their New Testament Fulfillments:

Jesus IS the Messiah.

Old Testament Prophecies And Their New Testament Fulfillments:

“I pray for the ones who are searching for THE TRUTH.  I pray that you search for the one true God with all your heart, soul and mind.  He is looking to be found.  There are many distractions along the path…the most common pitfall is our own “self”.  Get out of your head, and into your heart.  Reach into the deepest part of you that desires to be loved, yet seems to push true love away. True love will never hurt you.  God is LOVE. He has not forgotten you, even if you have forgotten Him.  You are here reading this today for a reason. May your hearts be filled with the peace of God as the truth of Christ will set you free.”

Messiah’s coming is predicted:

Old Testament Prophecy: #1: Dan. 9:24-26

“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon the holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.  Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince, shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.  And after threescore and two weeks shall messiah be cut off, but not for Himself; and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.”

New Testament Fulfillment: #1: Gal. 4:4

“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.”

New Testament Fulfillment: #2: Eph. 1:10

“That in the dispensation of the fullness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth: even in Him.”

“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, ye out of thee shall He come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

New Testament Fulfillment: #1: Matt. 2:1-6

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews?  For we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.  When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with Him.  And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.  And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the Land of Judea, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a governor, that shall rule my people Israel.”

New Testament Fulfillment #2:  Luke 2:1-20

“And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.  (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenus was governor of Syria.)  And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child, And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them; and they were sore afraid.  And the angel said unto them, Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God a, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.  And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.   And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.  And when they had seen it, they made know abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.  And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.  But Mary kept tall these things and pondered them in her heart.  And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.”

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.  And when she saw him, she was troubled as this saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.  And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary; for thou has found favour with God.  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring fort a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of his father David; And He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; an of His kingdom there shall be no end.  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born off thee shall be called the Son of God.”

And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass, and a cold the foal of an ass.  And the disciples went, and as Jesus commanded them, and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set Him thereon.  And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. “For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say he hath a devil.  The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of the publicans and sinners.  But wisdom is justified of her children.  Then began He to upbraid the cities wherein most of His mighty works were don, because they repented not.”

New Testament Fulfillment #2: Matt. 26:62- 63

“And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing?  What is it which these witness against thee? But Jesus held His peace.  And the high priest answered and said unto Him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.”

New Testament Fulfillment #4: Eph. 2:20

“And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone.”

New Testament Fulfillment #5: 1 Peter 2:6-8

“Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corer stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded.  Unto you therefore which believe He is precious; but unto them which be disobedient, the stone, which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.  And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient; whereunto also they were appointed.”

“But though He had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on Him; that the saying of Esias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, lord, who that believed our report?  And to who hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?  Therefore they could not believe because that Esiaas said again, He hat blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and should heal them.  These things said Esaias, when he saw His glory, and spake of Him, Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.”

And New Testament Fulfillment #3: Acts 4:1-12

“And they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.  And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day; for it was not now eventide.  Howbeit many of them which head the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.  And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.  And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, by what power or by what name, have ye done this?  Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means hi is made whole. This is the stone, which was set at naught of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.  Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.  Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus.  And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.”

Messiah was to be betrayed by one of His followers:

“Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.”

Old Testament Prophecy: #2: Zech. 13:7

“Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the Lord of Hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.”

New Testament Fulfillment: #1:Matt 26:14-16

“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said unto them, what will you give me, and I will deliver Him unto you?  And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.  And from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.”

New Testament Fulfillment: #2: Matt 26: 56

“But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.  Then the disciples forsook Him, and fled.”

New Testament Fulfillment #3: 47-50

“And while He yet spake, lo Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.  Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is He: hold Him fast.  And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed Him.”

New Testament Fulfillment #3: Luke 22:19-23

“And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, this is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you.  But, behold, the hand of him betrayeth me is with me on the table.  And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined; but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.”

New Testament Fulfillment #4: John 13: 18, 21

“I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen; but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.”

“When Jesus had thus said, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.”

Messiah was to be tried and condemned:

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Is. 53:7

“He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.”

New Testament Fulfillment #1: Luke 23:1-25

“And the whole multitude of them arose, and let Him unto Pilate.  And they began to accuse Him, saying, we found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, sayeth that He Himself is Christ a King.  And Pilate asked Him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews?  And He answered Him and said, Thou sayest it.  Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.  And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching that all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.  When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilean.  And as soon as he knew that He belonged unto Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.   And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad; for he was desirous to see Him of a long season, because he had heard man things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by Him.  Then he questioned with Him in many words; but He answered him nothing.  And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him.  And Herod with his men of war set Him at naught, and mocked Him, and arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.  And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together; for before they were at enmity between themselves.  And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people; and, behold, I having examined Him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse Him; No, not yet Herod; for I sent you to him; and lo, noting worthy of death is done unto Him.  I will therefore chastise Him, and release Him. (For of necessity He must release one unto them at the feast.) And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas; (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.) Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.  But they cried, saying, Crucify Him, crucify Him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath He done?  I have found no cause of death in Him; I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.  And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that He might be crucified.  And the voices of them of the chief priests prevailed.  And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.”

And New Testament Fulfillment #2: Matt 27:1, 2

“When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put Him to death; and When they had bound Him, they led Him away, and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.”

Messiah was to be silent before His accusers:

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Is. 53:7“He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.”

New Testament Fulfillment #1: Matt. 27:12-14

Old Testament Prophecy #2: Zech. 12:10

Old Testament Prophecy #3: Ps. 22:16

“For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.”

New Testament Fulfillment #1:Matt. 26:67

New Testament fulfillment #2: Matt 27: 26, 30

New Testament fulfillment #1: Matt. 27:39-44

“And they that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, And saying, thou that destoyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save myself.  If thou be the son of God, come down from the cross.  Likewise also the chief priests mocking Him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others: Himself he cannot save.  If he were the king of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.  He trusted in God: let him deliver Him now, if he will have Him: for he said, I am the Son of God.  The thieves also, which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His teeth.”

And New Testament Fulfillment #2: Luke 23:11, 35-37

“And Herod with his men of war set Him at naught, and mocked Him, and arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him again to Pilate.”

“And the people stood beholding.  And the rulers also with them derided Him, saying, He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He be Christ, the chosen of God.  And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming to Him, and offering Him vinegar, and saying, if thou be the King of the Jews, save thyself.”

Messiah was to die by crucifixion:

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Ps. 22:14, 16-17;

“I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowls.”

Old Testament Prophecy #2: Zech. 12:10 and 13:6

“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.”

“And one shall say unto Him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then He shall answer, those with which I was sounded in the house of my friends.”

New Test Fulfillment #1: Matt. 27:31; 34-50

“And after that they had mocked Him, they took the robe off from Him, and put His own raiment on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.”

“They gave Him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted therof, He would not drink. And they crucified Him, and parted His garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, they parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.  And sitting down they watched Him there; and set up over His head His accusation written, this is Jesus The King of the Jews.  Then were there two thieves crucified with Him, one on the right hand, and the another on the left.  And they that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, And saying, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself.  IF thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.  Likewise also the chief priests mocking Him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; Himself He cannot save.  If He be the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him.  He trusted in God: let Him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.  The thiefs also, which were crucified with Him, cast the same in His teeth.  Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.  And about the ninth our Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli, Eli, lama sabach ta ni?  That is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that said, this man calleth for Elias.  And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave Him to drink.  The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.  Jesus, when He had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.”

New Testament Fulfillment #2: John 19:28-30

“Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the Passover.  Pilate then went out unto them, and said, what accusation bring ye against this man? They answered and said unto Him, if He were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered Him up unto thee.”

Messiah was to suffer with criminals and pray for His enemies:

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Is. 53:12

“Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong: because he hath poured out His soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

Messiah was to die as a sacrifice for sin:

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Is. 53: 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.”

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

“HE was taken from prison and from judgment; and who shall declare his generation? For he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was He stricken.”

“yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He hat put Him to grief; when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His had.”

“He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied; by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.”

“Therefore will I divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong: because He hath poured out His soul unto death; and He was numbered with the transgressors: and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.”

Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive; thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the Lord God might dwell among them.”

New Testament Fulfillment #1: Acts 2:22-32

“Ye men of Israel, here these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know; Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain; Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that He should be holden of it.  For David speaketh concerning Him, I foresaw the lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither with thou suffer thing Holy One to see corruption.  Thou hast made know to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of Joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, hat he is both dead and buried, and his seplchre is with us unto this day.  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; HE is seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we are all witnesses.”

New Testament Fulfillment #2: Matt. 28:1-10

“In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came mar Magdalene and the other Mary to see the seplchre.  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door and sat upon it.  His countenance was like lightning, and His raiment white as snow: And for fear of Him the keepers did sake, and became as dead men.  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said.  Come; see the place where the Lord lay.  And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead: and behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him; lo, I have told you.  And they departed quickly from the sepulcher with fear and great joy; and did run to bring His disciples word.”

New Testament Fulfillment #3: Acts 13:35-37

“Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thing Holy One to see corruption.  For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption.  But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.”

“Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”

New Testament Fulfillment #4: Heb. 1:3

“Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

“And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”

Old Testament Prophecy #1: Hos. 1:10

“Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, ye are the sons of the living God.”

Messiah is King:

Old Testament Prophecy: Ps. 2:6-9

“Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.  I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, thou are my Son; this day have I begotten thee.  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.”

New Testament Fulfillment: Rev. 19:15-16

“And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should site the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron; and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.”

The coming of the Holy Spirit in the days of Messiah:

Messiah is Lord:

Old Testament Prophecy: Jer. 23:5-6

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.  In His days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby He shall be called, the Lord Our Righteousness.”

New Testament Fulfillment: Acts 2:36

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath mad that same Jesus, who ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

Two-fold mission of Messiah:

Old Testament Prophecy: Is. 61:1-11

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He might be glorified.  And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.  And stranger shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.  But ye shall be named the Priests of the lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.  For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double; everlasting joy shall be unto them.  For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make and everlasting covenant with them.  And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them that they are the seed, which the Lord hath blessed. I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he that covered me with their robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.  For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all nations.”

New Testament Fulfillment: Luke 4:16:21

“And He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.  And there was delivered unto Him the book of the prophet Esaias.  And when he had opened the book He found the pace where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the broke-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.  And he closed the book, and He gave it again to the minister, and sat down.  And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on Him.”  And he began to say unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”

Messiah is Intercessor:

Old Testament Prophecy: Is. 59:16

“And He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His arm brought salvation unto Him; and his righteousness, it sustained Him.”

New Testament Fulfillment: Heb. 9:15

“And for this cause He is the mediator of the New Testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.”

The opposition of nations:

Old Testament Prophecy: Ps. 2:2

“The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed, saying:”

New Testament Fulfillment: Rev. 19:19

“And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him that sat on the horse, and against His army.”

The glorious Messiah described:

Old Testament Prophecy: Is. 63:1

“Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

New Testament Fulfillment: Rev. 19:11-16

“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon Him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war.  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but He Himself.  And He was clothed with vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called the Word of God.  And the armies, which were in heaven, followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine line, white and clean.  And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations; and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadth the winepress of the fierceness and the wrath of Almighty God.  And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.”

Jesus is the sacrificial lamb:

Old Testament Prophecy: Is. 53:7

“He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.”

New Testament Fulfillment #1: Acts 8:32

“The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was Led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before His shearer, so opened he not His mouth.”

New Testament Fulfillment #2: John 1:29

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
